Here are some tips for safe contact lens usage from the American Optometric Association:
Regularly visit a trusted eye care professional to undergo comprehensive eye examinations annually or more frequently as advised by your eye care expert.
Ensure you use only FDA-approved contact lenses that have been prescribed by an authorized eye care practitioner.
Avoid swapping contact lenses with others.
Do not wear them beyond what is recommed and refrn from wearing them while sleeping unless otherwise instructed.
If your eyes become red or irritated, immediately remove the lenses and consult your healthcare provider; do not reuse lenses nor ignore symptoms.
Replace disposable contacts according to their recommed usage period.
Put on soft contact lenses before applying makeup.
Wear rigid gas permeable lenses after applying makeup.

Take care when using hr products near your eyes, such as hrspray; ensure your eyes are closed and close them for a few seconds post-application if necessary.
Ensure you keep cosmetic chemicals away from lenses, which includes nl polish and remover, perfumes, and colognes.
Properly clean contact lenses before usage by following CRD steps Cleanse, Rinse, Disinfect. Solutions specifically designed for lens care can't replace disinfecting solutions. Multipurpose products may do some of these functions but must be used as directed.
Always wash your hands thoroughly before handling lenses using non-perfumed hand soap.
Do not use saliva or water alone to clean the lenses; seek recommed contact solutions.
Be aware that homemade saline, distilled water, and tap water cannot replace disinfecting solutions in lens care routines.
Use products advised by healthcare professionals for lens cleaning. Not all solutions are compatible with every type of lens.
Lenses can become infected when coming into contact with a nonsterile solution; ensure the bottle tip doesn't touch any surface including your lenses.
Clean, rinse, and r-dry your case after each usage. Bacteria can grow in cases, so replace them every six months or upon starting new bottles of solution.
Regularly clean and dry your lens case to prevent bacterial growth.
