As a seasoned contact lens wearer who started journeying into the world of eye wear in the year 2008, I have been donning these wonders of modern technology for almost three and a half years now. From my initial struggles, which involved needing assistance to get them on I had to wear for close to two hours at one point, with my eyes reddening and discomfort growing as time went by to the current smooth sling, this journey has been both challenging yet rewarding.
To help you navigate your path into contact lens use as seamlessly as possible, I'm sharing my step-by-step experience. involves several key steps that ensure ease of application and a comfortable wear for all beginners:
Step 1: Preparation
Before you even touch the lenses or solution, make sure your hands are clean. Wash them thoroughly with antibacterial soap and dry them on a lint-free towel. This step is crucial as it prevents any bacteria from being transferred onto your lenses.
Step 2: Choose Your Lenses Wisely
Selecting the right type of lens for you is essential based on various factors like eye condition, lifestyle, budget, etc. If you're unsure about which one to choose, consult an optometrist who can provide guidance tlored specifically to your needs.
Step 3: Open and Remove the Lenses
Open the contact lens contner with care not too hard as it may crack or damage the lenses. Hold each lens between your thumb and index finger, place them flat on your palm, and remove them from their protective casing one by one.
Step 4: Soak Your Hands and Lenses
Before you touch your eyes, soak both hands in a small bowl filled with fresh sterile saline solution for at least five minutes. Also, immerse the lenses into the same solution to ensure cleanliness.
Step 5: Getting Dressed Up
Stand up strght agnst a mirror if possible while getting dressed. This helps mntn balance and keeps you from fumbling around. Position your lower eyelid and gently pull it down with your index finger or use an eyelash comb for support.
Step 6: Applying the Lenses
With your eyes slightly open, carefully place the lens on your eye. You'll need some practice to find out which part of your eye feels most comfortable when the lens is positioned right. If you have a hard time getting it in, do not force it!
Step 7: Checking Your Work
Once both lenses are securely placed, open your eyes wide to ensure they're properly centered and lying flat on your cornea bumps.
Step 8: Cleaning and Disposing
Always clean your lenses by your optometrist or the product's guidelines. Discard them in the designated receptacle after use as per safety regulations.
, it takes time to get accustomed to wearing contact lenses comfortably. Patience is key during this process. By following these steps and possibly seeking guidance from experienced wearers like myself, you'll soon find yourself enjoying the convenience that contact lenses offer hassle.
So, don't let fear or uncertnty hold you back. With a bit of practice and the right knowledge, you're well on your way to becoming an expert contact lens user!
